Kitchen Assistant Program (NGOs)

Give individuals the basic education they need to kickstart their culinary career and quickly transition into a kitchen assistant role. In this two-part program, designed specifically for NGOs, participants will dive into hands-on learning as they practice implementing recipes.

Learning goals

During this course, participants will:

Become familiar with digital learning by learning to use our platform and our digital courses.

Get to know the professional devices, machines and utensils used regularly to pre-prepare and cook food.

Understand basic hygiene and safety principles and apply them while working in a professional kitchen.

Work up to more complex recipes, which require multiple components and special attention to hygiene and safety.

Practice preparing basic recipes that require different pre-preparation, preparation and cooking methods.

Apply the program learnings in the work environment, under the direction of a professional chef.

Become familiar with digital learning by learning to use our platform and our digital courses.

Get to know the professional devices, machines and utensils used regularly to pre-prepare and cook food.

Understand basic hygiene and safety principles and apply them while working in a professional kitchen.

Work up to more complex recipes, which require multiple components and special attention to hygiene and safety.

This course is conducted both online and in-person. Learners study the bulk of the material online (80%). The in-person training sessions are supplemental, and can be done either one-on-one or in groups (20%).

Learner’s will need access to the company / school’s training facilities (i.e., kitchen / production)

Blended learning

This course is conducted both online and in-person...

This course is conducted online and in-person. Participants will study the Fundamentals and Methods and implementation in online sessions. The final assessment can take place either online or locally, in-person.

Part 1 and 2 - Kitchen Assistant

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

  • Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for Part one. Participants do not need any prior work experience or culinary education. To start Part two, participants should have successfully completed the first part.
  • After successful completion, participants can apply to work as a professional kitchen assistant or as a commis.
